Lampson X-Factor #2 - Farhan Shamsi

Farhan Shamsi was born on October 9, 1965, in Walsall, England, and his family moved to the United States in 1970. His father is a board certified Psychiatrist, specializing in Substance Abuse treatment, and is recognized as a Fellow by the American Psychiatric Association. Farhan’s mother holds a Master of Arts in Persian and is a Real Estate Broker.

With an interest in helping the community, Farhan joined his father in managing a substance abuse treatment clinic. As Executive Director, Farhan led the clinic and staff to a three-year accreditation, which is the highest level awarded. In the 30 years that Farhan has lived in the Greater Houston area, he has been involved in countless community, social and school activities.

Farhan is running for Justice of the Peace in Precinct Three of Fort Bend County. He hopes to make the J.P. court more involved with the community, and bring his common sense approach to make the juvenille court a place where kids are put on the right track, and not simply given an introduction to a lifetime in and out of the criminal justice system.

Farhan is also deeply committed to bringing the exploding Asian community of Fort Bend into the fellowship of the Democratic Party. He sees the Democratic Party as a microcosm of the American melting pot, where different back grounds, experiences and perspectives combine to create unique solutions to our shared problems.
