How much naked kleptocracy can one county government stand?
Answer - A lot.
The short version: County commissioners just agreed to lease Judge Cliff Vacek's old law office in a deal that in three years pays more than the property's total appraised value. Vacek also claims an agricultural tax exemption on the land (because he keeps a few head of cattle there, whose drinking water tax payers must also cover under the lease). It's a $168,000 sweetheart deal.

So I was reading news on the MSNBC website, and I run across this sign post of the zeitgeist that I had to share:
I was going to fill out the form with a long story about my paging days with Tom DeLay...He may have been able to resign, but I wish I could quit him...

Finally, here is a random sampling of terms entered into search engines that led people to this site over the past week:
"texas code of judicial conduct" - Our county officials seem to have a problem with this one...
"mike elliot fort bend" - Well, he has been in the news...
"tom delay brahma" - Your guess is as good as mine.
"troy nehls safari ranch" - Footprint tracks of an elusive Saber-Toothed Scandal-Hunter...
"larry blackmon democrat" - This person apparently didn't get the memo.
"bob hebert pbs&j" - A pretty common variant among the PBS&J searches.
"john zerwas lobbyist" - Duh. Don't need a Google search to know which way the wind blows.
Some Shelley searches:
"shelley sekula gibbs with delay" - Image search. Hit this pic.
"shelley sekula gibbs port security" - Not gonna find much on that search...
"shelley sekula gibbs racist" - Probably got a few more hits with that one. This person hit my page here.
"shelley sekula gibbs sex on the beach" - I'm still averaging as many as 5 hits a day from this search. Maybe there's more to this than just a tank top:
Actually, speaking of the tank top, the woman in question approached some local Democrats at a recent event inquiring if I was there. She wanted to make it clear that although she is a friend and big supporter of Tom DeLay, she does not work for Shelley Sekula-Gibbs. Which is odd, because this woman was whispering in Shelley's ear throughout the GOP Executive Committe meeting I attended. Maybe Robert Talton put something in the cookies.
But regardless, Shelley Sekula-Gibbs has even now lost the support of the sex on the beach demographic.

Memo to the Fort Bend County Commissioners: y'all can lease my "office" for $5000 a month, and I won't even make you feed the cattle!
